Scope and content
In November of 1945, Drew Foss (seated left) viewed slides through a hand held viewer, trying to catch up on family events missed during his four years spent as a Japanese prisoner of war. Pictured with him were his mother, Agnes, and father, Capt. Henry Foss, U.S.N. On Wednesday November 7, 1945, the U.S.S. Takanis Bay brought both Capt. Henry Foss, U.S.N., and his son Drew Foss back from the war in the Pacific. Drew was on the tug boat "Justine Foss" at Wake Island when the island was captured in December of 1941 by the Japanese. He spent the next four years as a prisoner of war. (T.Times, 11/8/1945, p.1)
