Scope and content
Holroyd Company was a concrete block and building material manufacturing plant. The company carried concrete blocks and bricks, masonry units, sand and gravel and many other building materials available on site. A veterans' emergency housing program was in effect at this time and it absorbed all construction materials available for house construction. There was an acute shortage in lumber in the lumber capital of the world. In order to meet this shortage builders turned to concrete blocks for commercial construction on a large scale and for a certain amount of home building. (TNT, 7/14/1946, p.1)
