Graybar Electric Company. Twelve members of the staff stand outside the facility. Graybar Electric, a wholesle distributing company, has maintained facilities in Tacoma since 1918 serving seven northwestern counties supplying everything from poles and insulators to lamps for industry and homes. Signs on the front of the building advertise "Anything Electric". Graybar began in a small Cleveland, Ohio, machine ship in 1869 under the name Gray and Barton with the bulk of business in the brand new telegraph industry. In 1929 Graybar employees purchased all outstanding shares of common stock becoming the first business of its size to be owned and operated by its employees. (TNT, 8/18/1955)
