Scope and content
ca. 1946. Extensive grounds located on the Wayne W. Keyes property circa 1946. Mr. Keyes, a prominent Tacoma attorney, resided with wife Bernice (daughter of John S. Baker) in the Lakes District at 11437 Gravelly Lake Dr. S.W. In 1921, he purchased the former "Sunnybank" country residence built for Charles A. Foster. The home and grounds were now known as the Keyes Mansion. The property included 8 1/2 acres of land, a three-story Dutch Colonial, and a large stable. Demolition of the house was completed on January 9, 1981, after the deaths of Mr. Keyes (in 1953) and Mrs. Keyes (in 1969), as the property was sold to several individuals. (TNT 1-11-81, A-14, F-8-articles on "Sunnybank")
