Scope and content

On March 16, 1947, Tacoma reached a new record high of 67 degrees. Summer-like weather had children and adults out and about enjoying the sunshine. These four boys tried their hand at rafting along Hoodlum Lake, located near Franklin Elementary School. Hoodlum Lake was later drained during the development of Franklin Park. Left to right: Paul Gerber, age 11, Daryl Zylstra, 8, Dennis Cook, 8, and Jimmie Cook, 13. (T. Times, 3/17/47, p. 1) TPL-9699
