James B. Mitchell was tried and convicted for the murder of Dr. John R. Thompson. Mitchell confessed to slaying two people from Tacoma; Bruce Gullett was also killed by Mitchell but his case would be tried at a later date. Judge Fred G. Remann presided over the hearings.
