On May 14, 1947, Julian F. Broughton, wearing war decorations he received for service during the Spanish-American War, received a US Treasury check from William N. Weaver. Mr. Broughton had waited 48 years for this check. William N. Weaver was the contact agent for the Veterans Rehabilitation Center who helped Mr. Broughton receive this check for $374.40 representing his transportation pay due him when he left Manila in 1898.
