Meril S. Stig was placed in county jail after leaving her three daughters, ages 2, 3, and 5 years old, unattended, she is being charged with allegedly contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her daughters were discovered by two military officers from McChord Field, when the girls started a fire on the floor of their house. The girls were taken to Pierce County Hospital, the youngest has measles, they will remain there for medical examinations. Pierce County Sheriff's officers found broken beer bottles, beer cans and other trash in the home, they referred to Mrs. Stig's home as "...the dirtiest we were ever in." Mrs. Stigs is divorced from her husband, who no longer lives in Tacoma. Interior view of the Stig's house (T. Times, 12/8/47, p. 9).
