President Harry S.Truman greeting Tacoma Police Department motorcycle officers on 9th Street near Broadway and Saint Helens Avenue in downtown Tacoma. It was Mr. Truman's first visit to Tacoma as president. To assist local police,Tacoma's own anti-aircraft unit, the 530th AAA Automatic Weapons battalion was chosen to furnish the guard of honor for the President's visit. 50 guardsmen would be on duty.
