Ward A. Smith was a well known Tacoma real estate businessman, in 1943 he was one of the co-founders of March and Smith Realtors. In 1947 Smith bought out his partner, renamed the company and became the president of Ward Smith Inc. During the mid 1940's, Smith became an active member in a number of home building firms, this later became the United Homes Corp.
