Scope and content
The women of the Missionary Council of the Assembly of God met once a week in 1949 in the basement of the home of Mrs. George Phill to sew, mend clothing and make quilts to be distributed to the needy in Europe and the Orient. Their minister, Rev. Dwight McLaughlin, planned to travel to Germany at the end of February and would distribute the women's work at that time. The large group of unidentified ladies are busy making warm and useful quilts (at right) and refurbishing piles of used clothing so that they looked good as new. Since organizing one year earlier they had already sent 76 large quilts, 43 baby quilts and 139 children's garments to the needy in the Orient. (TNT 2-6-49, A-3)
