Scope and content
Four misses from Bremerton High School demonstrated the size of the stack that will adorn the destroyer USS Jarvis, under construction, during the October 27, 1936 festivities celebrating Navy Day at the Bremerton Naval Yard. The girls were standing inside the outer casing of the stack, made of stainless steel in the boiler shop at the yard. Pictured left to right are Jean Devaney, Jeanne Haugen, Pauline Montain and Mary Jane Arthun. The girls were visiting the large modern boiler shop, open to the public during the festivities.
