Scope and content
In August of 1949, Day's Tailor-D Clothing, Inc. manufactured clothing for men in this building at 100-08 South 29th Street. After the recent addition to its factory, Day's Tailor-D Clothing was producing 5,000-6,000 pairs of trousers per day. The 48-year-old company employed between 300 to 400 people with a million dollar payroll. The firm had started out in business as the Shull-Day Company in the early 1900's. The company's officers in 1949 included Hollis Day, President; Richard D. McDonald, Vice-President; Harold C. Runions, Secretary; and Judd W. Day, Treasurer. This exterior view of Day's Tailor-D facilities included a Studebaker truck and other automobiles parked outside of the plant; signs are advertising Day's trousers for men and "union wages."
