Scope and content
Shell Oil Company's new Tacoma waterfront terminal opened to visitors November 1, 1949, at East D and 7th Streets, marking another step in the company's $6 million expansion program. L.H. Hausam, Shell's district manager, announced the company wanted to keep pace with Tacoma's growing population and improve distribution of petroleum for the community. All of Shell's receiving, packaging and distribution facilities in the area were consolidated at the new plant. (TNT, 11/1/1949, p.6 and p.7)
