General Kaiser coming down gang plank from ship, Mt. McKinley, Chamber of Commerce, Armed Services Committee, Col. James Stack. Brig. Gen. L.B. Keiser led 15,000 troops from Fort Lewis in maneuvers in Hawaii called "Operation Miki". The troops were brought home on board the U.S.S. Mount McKinley which docked at the Tacoma Naval Station. They were met by the Fort Lewis band and the Red Cross. Red Cross volunteers handed out milk, candy and apples. (TNT, 11/17/1949, p.1)
