Scope and content

A large, flatbed semi-trailer truck tipped over in downtown Tacoma on November 29, 1949 spilling its load of lumber onto South 12th Street, between Pacific Avenue and A Street. Although a heavy crane was brought in to right the truck, it took over 5 hours to clear the street. The buildings at the top are the National Bank of Washington, 1123 Pacific Avenue, later the Tacoma Art Museum (to the left), and the Federal Building. (TNT, 11/29/1949, p.1)
