Scope and content
On June 14, 1950, Mrs. Henrietta Lange celebrated her 101st birthday at a party given by the Golden Age Club in connection with the older-persons program sponsored by the Eagles of Aerie No. 3. Sheriff Lee Croft presented Mrs. Lange with a dozen American Beauty roses. She blushed as she receives a kiss on the cheek from Sheriff Croft while Alfred Shevland, party chairman, stood to the right. Mrs. Lange was born in Poland and moved to Canada in 1906. Five years later she moved to Portland, but for the last three decades she lived in Tacoma with her daughter, Mrs.O.W. Dingfield. She had 12 children. When she died in November of 1950, she left behind six of her children, 41 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Ordered by Art Hefty. (TNT, 6/16/1950, p.A-7)
