Scope and content
In February of 1951, the skilled staff of television technicians who worked for the Ted Brown Music Company posed in their service department headquarters at the Commerce Street entrance of the store. This photo was used in advertising copy for the News Tribune 2/23/1951 Television Special section. The ad stated that "Ted Brown is very proud of its expert television technicians." The company had a policy of expert service and its staff attended classes at television factory and wholesaler schools and at Tacoma Vocational TV School. Ted Brown was one of the few independent companies in 1951 to do all of its own installation and service on TVs. Pictured standing, left to right, are Elroy Burnett, Don Dovey, Charles Laybourn (Service Manager) and Jimmy Johansen. Pictured kneeling are Axel Olson and Claus Anderson (fine-woods cabinet workman.) (TNT 2/23/1951, pg. C-8) TPL-10157
