George Ball, age 12, of Redondo Beach, received a $25 check from the Tacoma Society of Architects for submitting the best design for a base of the replica of the Statue of Liberty that was to be erected by the Tacoma area Boy Scouts on the grounds of the Washington State Historical Society.
