Governor Arthur B. Langlie, second from left in front row, with other attendees at the Pulp and Paper Industry's Safety Conference held at the Winthrop Hotel. Safety in the workplace was one of Governor Langlie's emphasis. He started the annual Governor's Industrial Safety and Health Conference in 1949; an event that is still currently held. The governor was present to honor Longview Fibre Co. of Longview, Washington, with the annual safety trophy, given to the firm with the lowest accident rate in the preceding year. ALBUM 10.
