Scope and content
The Park Avenue Preschool sponsored an old fashion "Western Roundup" on Friday March 28, 1952 to earn extra money for the preschool program. Among those assisting with the affair were: Ray Greenleaf, on the chuck wagon committee; Sadie (Mrs. Rudy) Holan, the preschool president; and Ida (Mrs. Arthur) Kincaid, the carnival chairwoman. Those attending were encouraged to dress in full cowboy or cowgirl regalia, although simple jeans were acceptable. Included in the festivities held at the Park Avenue Elementary School, 6701 So. Park Ave., were a children's talent show, a bazaar, a Funland complete with clown, a fortune teller, a monkey house and a tot lot. There was a snack bar in the basement with pie, cake and hot dogs.
