Scope and content
Moses Lake Development, Farm in a Day. (Pictures also dated 5/22/1952) A complete farm was built in Moses Lake to celebrate the coming of irrigation with the erection of the Grand Coulee Dam. The house was gifted to WW II veteran Donald Dunn (standing wearing a tie.) Five of the West Coast's top architects studied farmers' needs and habits before designing the model farmhouse. The design committee was headed by Seattle architect Paul Kirk. William C. Bell of Seattle, managing director of the Western Retail Lumbermen's Association, was general coordinator for the construction phase of the farm. The completed farm, consisting of home, outbuildings, 80 acres of planted fields and livestock, was valued at $75,000 and was completed in 22 hours.
