Scope and content
President of the Tacoma Chapter of the Washington Association for Retarded Children presenting a bus to the Rainier state school in Buckley. Keys and title papers for the 40 passenger bus valued at $2,500 were turned over by the Tacoma chapter of the WARC to Dr. Theodore Barber, school superintendent, 2nd from the left in group to right of bus. The group to the left of the bus, left to right, are Mabel (Mrs. Walter) Dyer, co- chairman with her husband of last year's carnival, the proceeds of which went toward the bus, Anna (Mrs. Vernon) Zachrison and Vernon Zachrison, Tacoma chapter president in 1952. Each year the WARC held a carnival, the proceeds of which were used to buy items needed by the school and not provided by the state. The funds from the 1953 carnival would be used to make the halls more homelike. (TNT 11/3/1953, pg. 13)
