Scope and content
Mark Griggs, son of Chauncey and Johanna Griggs, and his cat admire their portraits painted by Franz Gerstl. This portrait will be displayed along with other Tacoma owned pieces of art in a show presented by the Tacoma Art League and the Delta Phi Delta Art Honorary Fraternity at the galleries of the College of Puget Sound. Much of the artwork was created by Northwest artists and the portraits are all of prominent area families. Chauncey Griggs was the Director of the St. Paul and Tacoma Lumber Co. The family lived in 1953 at 514 No. D St. (TNT 11-19-1953, pg. D-1, D-2)
