Scope and content
In July of 1937, Pierce County had a new woman deputy sheriff in the department. Pierce County Sheriff John Bjorklund handed a commission to Marian Hager, who would be working in the civil office of the Sheriff. She succeeded Ethel Medlicott, who became Mrs. John C. Bjorklund. Prior to her career as a law officer, Ms. Hager was secretary to the Pierce County Democrats Club. (T. Times 6/26/1937, pg. 5)
