Frank Stojack was the top vote getter in the 1953 City Council elections with nearly 21,000 votes. Nine people were elected to serve on the council as Tacoma was beginning a new form of government, the council-manager. Mr. Stojack was elected to a five year term and would take office June 1, 1953. He was a professional wrestler who had also played football at Washington State College. He graduated with a degree in physical education from W.S.C. in 1935. View of Frank Stojack perusing a book in April, 1954; a booklet on residential construction and the book, The American City, lie on his desk. A large nameplate is close by. (TNT 3-11-53, p. 1)
