Scope and content
On the first day of July, 1939, 23 year old Margaret Franich, candidate for Golden Jubilee Queen, poses seated neatly on a stool. She was later crowned "Miss Pierce County" and was a contestant at the Miss Washington contest, where she came in second to Seattle's Potlatch Queen. She is dressed in a dark dress or suit, with matching white heels, handbag and wide brimmed picture hat. Miss Franich was a graduate of Stadium High School and a working girl, employed as a legal secretary to the state tax Commissioner in Olympia. (T. Times 6/20/1939, pg. 16)
