Scope and content
Three unidentified men dressed in business attire attached an advertisement for the 1939 4th of July fireworks show, sponsored by the Tacoma Junior Chamber of Commerce, to the bumper of a large GMC truck. The show, held in the Stadium Bowl, featured fireworks, motorcycle races, police prowl car demonstration, and music from the Ray C. Roberts Post 969, VFW band. The two hour show attracted an enthusiastic audience of 12,000, not counting those watching and listening in boats and automobiles. The truck had a special "Golden Jubilee" license plate.
