Scope and content
Drama League group indulges in a little levity after play practice. Large group gathered in a living room; most "Sieg Heil," or in a couple of cases thumbs down, a man imitating Adolf Hitler. In the years proceeding America's entry into World War II, Adolf Hitler, with his little mustache and arrogant ways, was a common target for comic characterization. The Drama League was currently rehearsing "Ghost of Yankee Doodle," scheduled to open February 27, 1940 at the Little Theater on Carr Street. (T. Times)
