Scope and content

Gordon Fors and Jeanne Wing (the future Mrs. Fors) posed for a photographer on the evening of July 2, 1940 as they rode on the ferry boat "Kalakala." One special feature of Tacoma's six-day celebration of the dedication of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and McChord Field was a special "last ferry boat ride" sponsored by the Tacoma Young Men's Business Club. The 1,440 passengers enjoyed an evening of fun, sightseeing and dancing as the ferry, which left the Tacoma municipal dock at 8 p.m., sailed to Point Defiance, Gig Harbor and Bremerton and back.
