Scope and content
ca. 1936. Fort Nisqually reconstruction at Point Defiance Park. View through gate of Factors House and bastion. The Factors House was built in 1854 for Dr. Tolmie and was one of two surviving structures from the original fort. The original 1830's Hudson's Bay trading post was located in the Nisqually Delta. It was moved from its original site in Dupont to a bluff in Point Defiance Park in the mid 1930's. Funds were provided by the Young Men's Business League, the Chamber of Commerce and several federally subsidized work programs creating needed jobs in the Depression years.
