Scope and content
Armand J. "Frenchie" LaFramboise and his secretary Ottilie Markholt were photographed on March 27, 1943 in his office at the Metal Trades Council. The Metal Trades Council was the negotiating body for all the unions involved in working with metal, such as the shipyards. On April 1, 1943, Mr. LaFramboise became the Labor-relations Director at the Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corp. yards in Tacoma. Ottilie Markholt continued to work for the union; she later became a noted historian of Pierce County's labor movement and was the author of several books on the subject including "Maritime Solidarity - Pacific Coast Unionism, 1929-1938."
