Scope and content

In August of 1943, Thomas Nelson had been working at the Seattle-Tacoma Shipyards for almost a year. He worked on the second shift labor gang at Shop A. Not married, Mr. Nelson lived and shared expenses with another bachelor employee and did his own cooking and canning. He had a victory garden, where he spent most of his time away from work. He had, at one time, been in charge of the kitchen at a swanky summer resort at Blowing Rock, N. Carolina, in the Blue-Ridge Mountains.
