Scope and content
At twilight on New Years Day, 1936, Mrs. Anita Thorne Corse, daughter of the late Chester Thorne and Mrs. Anna Thorne, married Brigadier General David Lamme Stone, U.S. Army, in a simple ceremony at the family estate "Thornewood." The simple private wedding took place in front of this background, a window embrasure covered with silver hangings and graced with calla lilies and white candles. Mrs. Stone was attended by her children Chester Thorne, Diana and Anita Corse. In July of 1935, Mrs. Thorne had deeded her home, the Gothic Kirtland Cutter designed "Thornewood," to her daughter. The Stones renovated Thornewood in the forties. In 1997, new owners converted Thornewood into a bed and breakfast. In the early years of 2000, the home was the setting for Stephen King's "Rose Red" horror miniseries. (TNT 1/4/1936, pg. 7)
