Scope and content

Holiday decorations formed the backdrop at the New Years Day 1936 wedding of Anita Thorne Corse and Gen. David Stone at the Thorne family estate "Thornewood." A very ornate Christmas decoration surround studded with golden fruit and topped by a painting of the Madonna and child, framed the bookshelves in the wood paneled library at Thornewood. Thornewood was built in 1910 for Chester Thorne. The design was by Architect Kirtland Cutter. In 1935, Thorne's widow deeded the home to her daughter Anita Thorne Corse. She and her second husband General David L. Stone remodeled Thornewood in the 1940s. (TNT 1/4/1936, pg. 7) TPL-10335
