Sprinker Gets'Needled'
County Commissioner Harry Sprinker smiles bravely as Dr. Hillis Griffin prepares to scratch the commissioner’s arm. The inoculation for smallpox didn’t hurt. It didn’t even break the skin. Miss Marie Jones, registered nurse, assists with the “operation.” Local governments, city-county health department and medical society all are co-operating in a county-wide vaccination-against-smallpox campaign. All residents in Tacoma and Pierce County have been urged to get vaccinations at their nearest fire station between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. News Tribune staff photo. TNT 05-23-1954 A13.
