Surplus Food Storage
Bill Stein, a state employee, unloads packages of U.S. Department of agriculture surplus food in a warehouse at the old Auburn Army Depot. Maintained by the State General Services in cooperation with the federal GSA, it supplies western Washington state institutions and welfare programs with food. About 45 box cars a month move through the single warehouse.

New Post Office
The Auburn Post Office moved from its previous cramped quarters at 1st and Auburn Ave to this new 19,000-square-feet building at 11 and 3rd St. NW last month. The $330,000 concrete black and window wall building was built and is owned by the Lease Co. of Seattle and is leased to the Post Office Department on a 20-year lease.
