1993 - Tacoma election

Written on back of VHS: This tape is a recording of the Municipal Television's coverage of the 1993 Tacoma municipal election returns. TV Tacoma hired a retired professional newscaster to moderate the returns. I (Bill Baarsma) was asked to comment on the returns and the trends as they came in from the auditor's office. The incumbent mayor, Karen Vialle, lost in a landslide upset as well as other surprise outcomes. Karen and Jack Hyde are interviewed during the broadcast.

Debate over the 1993-94 budget concerning funding for the police and fire departments and addressing public safety in Tacoma. Features Council Members Paul Miller, Bill Baarsma, Ruth McElliott, Harold Moss, Dolores Silas, Mayor Karen Vialle and Deputy Mayor Greg Mykland. This was a huge issue in the community at the time.
