United Mutual advertised itself as Tacoma's only Savings Bank, with the stipulation that only a savings bank could offer deposit insurance. United Mutual was a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Franklin F. Summers was president, with Harold W. Gloyde, William P. Matthaei and Charles A. Robbins as vice-presidents.
