In February of 1952, representatives from the Tacoma Master Builders posed outside the model home, the "Tacoman," that was built by Jardeen Brothers for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. It was built on a lot adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse. The Master Builders were sponsors of the home show and suppliers of materials for the model home. The "Tacoman" was to be complete in every detail. Builders, designers, architects and suppliers within the organization contributed suggestions for items to be included in the home's design. Mrs. Robert Hyde directs the attention of Mrs. Lucille and Dr. R. Franklin Thompson to the painting entitled "Carnival", on loan to the exhibition at the College of Puget Sound. Dr. Thompson was the president of C.P.S. He and his wife were on hand to attend the Tacoma Art League's preview on October 3, 1950, of an exhibit featuring the work of two local artists, Mrs.Vera Fraser and Nelson Sears. Dr. Thompson became President of C.P.S in 1942 and served as president for 30 years.(TNT 10-8-50, p. D-4)

The fourteen student members of the College of Puget Sound Choral Readers perform in recital in Jones Hall Auditorium. The group, under the direction of Martha Pearl Jones, performed a diversified program of ensemble verse readings. Booth at the second annual Greater Tacoma Home Show featuring oil burning heating equipment distributed by P & C Heating, 763 So. 38th St. Brand names featured are International oil furnaces and La Salle heating equipment. Homeowners could now enjoy the peace and quiet of their heated home with silent operation, hot air pipes running under the floor and return air requiring no additional piping.

This one, sponsored by Richaven, shows how affordable it is to own your own home and displays numerous word plays on owner Ed Rich's name such as "rich opportunities for rich living."

Booth at the second annual Greater Tacoma Home Show for Holroyd Co., 5047 So. Washington, manufacturers of concrete masonry units. The shelves at the back of the exhibit hold Holroyd concrete blocks in many shapes and forms that are used for construction. At either side of the booth, tables are set up with photographs of homes and construction sites utilizing the masonry units and forms for goers to request further information. The focal point of the display is a masonry fireplace.

Tacoma Seed Company's exhibit booth at the spring flower show, part of the Daffodil Festival, at the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse March 31- April 2, 1950. The booth displayed gardening products by Miller Products Co. of Portland, Oregon, including insecticides, fertilizers, fungicides and weed killers. The display also featured Scotts Lawn and Vigoro plant food, as well as manual push lawn mowers. The show included commercial exhibits such as this one and competitive horticulture and flower arranging exhibits. Both garden club members and the general public were invited to compete for the blue ribbons. A profusion of spring flowers decorated the fieldhouse and floral wall hangings were prepared by the garden clubs. Entertainment was supplied by local choirs and bands. Booth at the second annual Greater Tacoma Home Show for Kirby Co. of Tacoma, 3521 6th Ave., electric vacuum cleaner sales and service. The booth features floor polishing equipment and products as well as vacuums. Prominently displayed is the Kirby sanitation system that has eight complete units: demother, suds sprayer, mattress cleaner, rug cleaner, floor duster, floor polisher and "handi butler." A drawing was held to give away a free Kirby. The company persuaded home show goers to purchase by telling them that "your home deserves a Kirby."

In 1948 College of Puget Sound had the Memorial Fieldhouse built, this building was dedicated in 1949 to those CPS students who died while serving in World War II. In 1949 the President's Residence would be constructed; Dugan, Mock and Morrison were the architects. The Tacoma Art League sponsored the 17th annual South & West art exhibit in the College of Puget Sound's Jones Hall beginning on April 3, 1957. 64 entries were accepted out of the 204 submitted. Robert Feasley, C.P.S. art instructor, won "Best of Show" for his oil "City Night." First prize in watercolors went to Ruth Babbit for her "Riot." The third annual Pansy Ring Tea took place at the College of Puget Sound on May 15, 1955. It was sponsored by the active members and alumnae of the Phi Zeta chapter of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. The tea honors senior women and is a tradition of nearly all Tri Delta chapters in the United States and Canada. The tea featured a style show, climaxed by a bridal party. Booth #65, sponsored by Acme Construction Co., at the 1952 Tacoma Home Show, April 3-6, 1952 at the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse. The sign to the left tells the showgoer that the displayed roof is the same one installed on the model home the "Tacoman" built adjoining the CPS fieldhouse. The small triangular sign on the right lets passerbys know that they also install the popular asbestos siding. The company's specialty was remodeling, re-roofing and re-siding residential properties. The company was owned by Leonard E. Hunt and Howard W. Underwood and was located at 604 So. 13th.

One of three bedrooms located in the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. Each bedroom featured easy-to-reach built-in storage space for clothing and easy to open ventilating panels adjacent to the windows. A very bright wallpaper covers the rear wall.

The booth has photographs of homes offered for sale through Richaven and advertises "low down payments."

Tacoma Master Builders Association's booth, sponsors of the 1952 Greater Tacoma Home Show, April 3-6, at the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse.
