Marilyn Giesy and Leonard Eugene Estes on their wedding day June 30,1951 at the First Baptist Church. 700 guests were present at their candlelight ceremony in the sanctuary. The bride was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Archie Giesy and the groom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Leonard Estes. The bride's five attendants were dressed in Nile green organdy embossed with lilly of the valley and carried bouquets of pink and orchid sweet peas. The bride wore a gown of ivory slipper satin with a yoke of Alencon lace and a Peter Pan satin collar. The gown had a full circular skirt with a court length train. The bride wore a bonnet of shirred net trimmed with pink rosebuds and lilly of the valley, with a fastened fingertip veil of imported French illusion. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis and pale yellow sweetheart roses with a white orchid topping a white prayer book. Marianna was the daughter of Marie (Mrs. Clemens W.) Van Rooy and Robert was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mattecheck of McMinnville, Oregon. Marianna was attended by seven bridesmaids: Mrs. Marcus Woods, Josephine Risalvato, Sue Souix, Mary Jane Van Rooy, Marilyn Van Rooy, Dolores Hrvatin and Molly Mattecheck. Michael's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Sheehan. Miss Carol Sheehan was maid of honor for her new sister-in-law. Jack Christianson was best man. Her fingertip veil is attached to a small tiara. Her husband has a light colored tuxedo with black bow tie. The nuptials occurred in the Fife Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Okano-Komoko wedding. The Okano-Komoko wedding was held at the Tacoma Hongwanji Buddhist Church on June 9, 1958. The newlyweds are standing below the ornate wooden altar decorated with candles and lilies. The bride is wearing a sleeveless calf-length dress, small hat with veil, and carrying an orchid bouquet. Strickland-Taylor wedding. Rev. and Mrs. Richard Edward Taylor march down the aisle at the conclusion of their October 23, 1965, wedding at the Allen A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Taylor is the former Mamie Elizabeth Strickland, daughter of the Grady A. Stricklands. The bride wore a pearl white satin gown with long pointed sleeves and a gently scooped neckline. The flower girl, Rhoda Marcia Simpson, really lays one on the ring bearer, Bruce Allan Jennison, in this original wedding picture. There is an indication that this photo was displayed in the front window of the Richards studio with the caption "What can the poor guy do!" The young couple were the attendants at the June 11, 1955 wedding of Lois Marilyn Antilla and Paul John Putnam. The younger couple were the niece and nephew of the bride. The ringleted lass wears a dotted swiss gown and carries a basket. The young man wears a white sport coat and saddle shoes. (TNT 6/19/1955, pg. D-9)

Wedding picture of Mr. & Mrs. Clarence O. Lynn, owners of the C.O. Lynn Mortuary. Copy of the customers' print, no negative available. The First Lutheran Church of Tacoma was the scene of the nuptials June 14, 1905 that united Hilma Johnson of Tacoma and Clarence O. Lynn of Omaha, Nebraska. The couple was married in the church where they first met. When Mr. Lynn came west to establish himself, he was first employed by Conrad Hoska, funeral director. At the time of his marriage, Lynn went into business for himself, opening his own funeral home. In 1918, he built his own building at 717-19 Tacoma Ave. So. In 2000, the Lynn family still operates their business out of this building. (TNT 6/12/1955, pg. D-1)

As an added attraction at the 1931 Home Products Show, a public wedding was held on May 22, 1931. Grace McCollum and Noel Carreau were the first couple to volunteer to wed in front of a large attentive audience at the State Armory. The Independent Merchants Association, sponsors of the exhibition, paid for the wedding expenses including the marriage license, wedding clothing, flowers, and gifts. C.F. Mason, president of the association, even gave the bride away. The new Mrs. Carreau was dressed in an early summer gown of white chiffon and white hat and was attended by Mrs. Flora Niccoli.
