College of Puget Sound had a ground breaking ceremony for their new building, the CPS Memorial Field House. The Memorial Field House will be dedicated to the 138 men from CPS who died in World War II. The Field House will be located on the south side of campus, it will have a steel reinforced concrete foundation, the building will be 200 feet by 168 feet and 36 feet from the floor to the overhead beams; it will accommodate more than 5,000 people. CPS. Students at the College of Puget Sound are determined to win the many valuable awards in the Tacoma T-Man contest. One young man is wearing a gas mask. Two hold rifles and the last one holds a revolver in his hand and a pipe in his teeth. They have scoured the campus in hopes of locating the elusive subject. The 7th jingle clue was, "For he is sound as sound can be, A saint in two he is, not three. All will vouch and praise his name, and then go on to win the game". "T-Men", an Edward Small production released by Eagle Lion Films, was opening at the Rialto Theater. The film starred Dennis O'Keefe and was based on a compilation of three actual cases of US Treasury Department agents going under cover to track down a counterfeiting ring. The Central Board was a group of students vested with the responsibility of appointing committee heads, supervising the control of ASCPS finances, choosing publication heads and planning special campus events. The board was comprised of representatives of each class, editors of the Trail and Tamanawas, department managers of forensics, men's and women's intramural, music and dramatics, elected officers of ASCPS, and three faculty advisors. Todd Hall, College of Puget Sound's men's dormitory, was designed by architects, Sutton, Whitney & Dugan and Mock & Morrison. The ground breaking ceremony was held in July 1946. The cornerstone was laid by Dr. Edward H. Todd, CPS's previous president, the building was named in his honor for his many years of service to the institution. Todd Hall, College of Puget Sound's men's dormitory, was named after Dr. Edward H. Todd, in honor of his many years of service to the school. College of Puget Sound had many new additions in mind for the future, hoping to make CPS one of the nicest and most modern liberal arts colleges in the Northwest. On October 16, 1947 College of Puget Sound officials and West Disinfecting Company representatives inspected the newly refinished gym floor in the CPS Gymnasium which had originally been built in 1924. CPS, Dr. Thompson. Dr. Edward H. Todd (third from right), president emeritus of the college, and Dr. R. Tacoma Chamber of Commerce, new men's dorm under construction. The brick work on the College of Puget Sound was started June 2, 1947, by the MacDonald Building Company June 2, 1947. The Doctor of Divinity was conferred upon William Bowman who was recently named superintendent of the Vancouver area of the Methodist Church. The Doctor of Human Letters was conferred upon Charles A.
