The new facade covers the windows in the second story of the building. A view of daytime traffic can be seen with a bus running up South 11th Street and cars stopped along Broadway. Fisher's Department Store is seen on the far side of South 11th.

Mary Elizabeth Morton, an attorney with the Tacoma firm of Dorsey, Ruff and Morton, was photographed trying on straw hats at the Rhodes Brothers Department Store, 950 Broadway, for the Spring Fashions section of the March 6, 1949 Tacoma Times. Miss Morton was a graduate of the College (University) of Puget Sound and the University of Washington School of Law. In June of 1950 she married Donald H. Wollett. (T.Times, 3/6/1949, p.22)

Small window display at Rhodes department store, featuring slacks by Tacoma's Day's Tailor-D Clothing, for "Get Acquainted with Tacoma Products Week." The display mentions Day's College Cords, San Juan Slacks and the company's financial contribution to Tacoma, having one of its largest payrolls of over a million dollars. During "Get Acquainted with Tacoma Products Week", Sept. 7-12, several manufacturers had open houses and hundreds of stores donated windows for displays of goods manufactured here in Tacoma.

On August 8, 1963, Seventeen Magazine, in conjunction with the Rhodes Brothers Department Store, sponsored a "back-to-school" style show at Rhodes' Broadway location, 950 Broadway. Entertainment was provided by Valerie Kiomoto, dressed in traditional kimono, accompanied by the Jerry Sun jazz band. In addition, the Rhodes high school and college fashion board modeled the clothes featured in the August issue of Seventeen Magazine. The fashion board was composed of a representative from each high school in the area who worked part-time at the store and modeled in their fashion shows. (TNT Ad 8-7-63, A-20)

ca. 1917. Rhodes Brothers Store, circa 1917; Dining room at the store. The dining room was located on the top floor at Rhodes. It could seat 300 people. The tables were covered with white linen tablecloths and napkins and crystal vases held fresh flowers. Lunch was served everyday with dinner served 1-2 nights a week. ca. 1914. The Roof Garden at Rhodes Brothers department store, circa 1914. The Roof Garden was located just off the Sixth Floor Tea Room. The house photographer took this photograph just after the new awning was completed and the tables were set for luncheon. A similar photo was used in an ad in the July 3, 1914 Tacoma Daily Ledger. ca. 1910. Rhodes Brothers Store, circa 1910; Women's fall fashions in corner window. Henry A. Rhodes opened his grand mercantile establishment, Rhodes Brothers Department Store, at 950 Broadway in 1903. By 1910, business was booming as a result of appeal of current fashions, expert merchandising and advertising. Road signs led travelers to the store from miles around, promising them that "All roads lead to Rhodes." The store employed a professional window decorator and buyers made frequent trips back east to New York for the current fashions. This appears to be the glass department on the first floor, with a clear view of the mezzanine, center. Marjorie (Mrs. Harry) Cain, wife of the mayor of Tacoma, was photographed on September 16, 1941, holding an enlarged facsimile of the entry blank for the "Mrs. Typical Customer" contest. The contest was being held in connection with "Retailers for Defense" week, September 15-20, 1941. The local winner would get a $25 defense bond donated by area merchants and the right to compete for the national title. The winning entry would be selected from essays entered on "What the Retail Stores of Tacoma Can Do to Aid the Consumer in This Period of National Emergency." Merchants had vowed to conserve materials and labor vital to national defense. (T. In September of 1942, Dr. August C. Mirenta, a Tacoma chiropodist, demonstrated the unique features of his newly designed arch support to an unidentified young women in his office in the Rhodes Department Store, 950 Broadway. Trade-marked under the name "Arch-Releef", the adjustable foot support was manufactured and distributed by the American Foot Appliance Company of Tacoma. According to Dr. Mirenta, his new arch support was the result of many years of experimentation, and is the only support that is fully adjustable by the wearer. (T.Times 9/16/1942 p. 16)
