ca. 1979. The Moorehavens Inc. Nursing Homes, circa 1979, at 1748 Jefferson Ave. Also known as the Jefferson House Nursing Home. The structure was built in 1945 as the Jefferson Center War Housing Project. The dormitory was of masonry construction due to the wartime shortage of lumber and was completed shortly before the end of the war. The building has been demolished.

In 1995, South 19th St. between Pacific and Jefferson was closed to traffic and made part of the University of Washington, Tacoma campus. It is the site of the school's grand staircase.

It was designed by the Tacoma Architects Association with Ernest Mock serving as supervising architect. It was completed just before the end of the war.
