The Junior Class (Class of 1953) are seen at Annie Wright Seminary. The junior class with 29 students was the largest junior class in the history of Annie Wright. Annie Wright Seminary. Mr. Karl Weiss is pictured with two girls in the school library in November of 1951. He is explaining illustrations of Christ and Mary shown in a portfolio. Mr. Weiss taught civic and music classes at Annie Wright. The 1952 school yearbook, the "Shield," was dedicated to him in appreciation for all he had given to the students both spiritually and scholastically.

The Annie Wright Alumnae sponsored a series of lectures by Bishop Bayne in 1951 on the topic "What the Bible means today." Wedding portrait of Avonne Nadine Nelson and Lt. Truman Everett Boudinot, Jr. Miss Nelson, daughter of Mrs. Hazel Morton Nelson, and Lt. Boudinot, son of Mrs. Truman Boudinot of Beverly Hills, Ca. and the late Brigadier General Boudinot, were married on a Friday afternoon, January 12, 1951, in Raynor Chapel at the Annie Wright Seminary with Reverend Arthur Bell officiating at the single ring ceremony. Miss Nelson wore a pastel pink Adrian suit with an off white straw hat trimmed with white velvet flowers and carried a bouquet of carnations, pink roses and white stephanotis. The maid of honor was Miss Constance Brady and the best man was Robert Winskill. After the ceremony, the couple left for a three week motor tour of Santa Barbara and Palm Springs. Seven unidentified boys who attended the "Charles Wright School" at Annie Wright Seminary were photographed in December of 1950 while enjoying a snack of milk and animal crackers in their classroom. The Charles Wright School was added as an annex to Annie Wright in 1950 after the big earthquake of 1949 damaged Lowell School so badly it had to be torn down. A group of parents with daughters at Annie Wright asked Ruth Jenkins, the school's headmistress, to accept their sons. She agreed when those parents built an annex that could be converted later into a garage; they called the school Charles Wright. The new school offered classes for K, 1 and 2, but Annie Wright's long-standing policy of not accepting boys made an extension of education there impossible. A group of parents joined together and helped create the Charles Wright Academy, which opened in 1957 on a 127-acre site located between University Place and Lakewood.

The Right Reverend Stephen Fielding Bayne, Jr. in Raynor Chapel at Annie Wright Seminary. Photo taken for The Shield, Annie Wright Seminary's yearbook, 1950 issue. In 1959, in a surprise move, Rt. Rev. Bayne was elected to head the world wide, 40 million member Anglican Communion with headquarters in London. In a new position created for him, he would coordinate activities of 15 different autonomous churches, including the Episcopal Church of the United States. He would operate as spokesman and leader of the world organization, in hopes of unifying all of its diverse factions. Rt. Rev. Bayne had headed the diocese of Western Washington in Olympia for 12 years. At 52 years of age, Rt. Rev. Bayne had also previously served as a reporter on the Wall Street Journal, as a Navy chaplain and as the Chairman of the Department of Religion at Columbia University. A native of New York City, he was educated at Amherst, ordained in 1932 and consecrated as the Bishop of Olympia in 1947. He was well known as a speaker, famous for his wit and sense of humor.
