Dorothy is wearing a three-quarter length white silk gown with a v-neckline, she will be carrying an heirloom rosepoint lace handkerchief; her bouquet is made up of red anthurium lilies. William Hopping Sr. was co-owner of William D. Hopping and Company, an insurance company; he was also President of the Tacoma Savings and Loan Association. The Tacoma Council of Parent-Teacher Associations sponsered an Easter egg hunt for preschool and kindergarten age children at Wright Park in April of 1949. Hazel Churchill was the chairman of this event. She is pictured (center) enjoying a tasty carrot along with fellow Easter Bunnies Suzanne (Mrs. E.R.) Marcy (at right) and another unidentified helper. The club dates back to about 1894, with the club facilities relocated in 1904 to its present location, which was formerly the R. B. Lehman farm. J. M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corporation just finished building another Tacoma built fishing boat. The beautiful tuna clipper "Mary S." was built for Captain Manuel Sousa and Associates of San Diego, California. "Mary S." is 109 feet long and has a 600 horsepower engine, the vessel cost $300,000. The "Mary S" slid down the ways at Martinac Shipbuilding on April 14, 1949. The , launching of the 109-foot tuna clipper drew the attendance of L. L. Livesly, partner and managing owner of Manuel Sousa and Associates of San Diego, California. Mrs. Joe Martinac Jr. and Mrs. L. L. Livesly were the launching sponsors for the "Mary S." First State Convention of Amvets. The new state officers of Amvets were chosen at the concluding session of the two-day convention held in Tacoma August 16th and 17th, 1947. Puyallup Fair, Tacoma Day, Times, Burt McMurtrie. The Puyallup Fair opened September 13, 1947 . Wednesday September 17th was officially declared Tacoma Day. Tacomans tossed business and household cares aside to attend the fair. The Tacoma schools closed to make it possible for the youngsters of the city to attend. Pacific Boat was owned by John B. and Robert J. Breskovich and Joseph S. Rosin. Pacific Boat was one of the leading boat builders in Tacoma during this time period, they had been actively involved in the war time production and post-war building era. Pacific boat could custom built any type of boat, whether they were fishing and government vessels or pleasure crafts. They had recently started mass production of pleasure motor boats. A group of cheerleaders from St. Leo's are participating in the school's pep rally, they will perform for the winning team.
