In 1945, Daley's Garage occupied part of the ground floor of 1411-17 Pacific Ave, the home of the Schoenfeld annex and Bargain Loft. Schoenfelds had expanded into this site around 1940. Daley's Garage, owned by John J and John M Daley, offered the consumer a place to park and also gas up. The actual street address for the garage was 1415 Pacific Ave.

This is the Turner Garage & Towing Company at 1222 Tacoma Ave South as photographed in September of 1945. The garage offered 24 hour towing as well as Standard Oil gasoline. It was located in the building built in 1925 for the Olympic Garage. The brick building to the right in the photograph was 1218-20 Tacoma Ave. So., the F.N. Wolf building, built in 1890. It had previously housed the Tacoma Athletic Club and Tait's Business College, but in 1945 it was home to Hansen Auto Repairs and the Wakefield Apartments. The sign on the side of the building states that the Wakefield has single and housekeeping rooms for $100 a week and up. The building has since been demolished and the site is now the parking lot for the Main branch of the Tacoma Public Library. The building housing the Turner Garage & Towing Co. subsequently contained the Tacoma Tent & Awning Co., Candid Photo Service and Labor Ready.

Rudolph L. (Bud) Abraham's Standard Oil service station in September of 1945. The station was built in 1927 for the Delin Tire Co. It was remodeled in 1934 to be a Standard Oil service station. In the photograph, it is shown next to the Home Electric Co. at 1316 A St.

This small Standard Oil gas station is little more than a kiosk and appears to be located in a parking lot. The location of the station is unknown but two slender smokestacks can be seen in the background.

Camp Francis, an automobile court between Tacoma and Seattle on the Seattle Highway (99). Camp Francis offered cabins for rent, as well as gasoline and Standard Oil products.

Standard Oil service station located at Mallon Ford, 5617 South Tacoma Way. The Ford dealership structure was built in 1917 for the Edward P. Leonard Ford Agency. Tommy Mallon had the gas station added in 1938.

The MJM Service station, 6647 South Tacoma Way; photographed in September of 1945. The station was owned by Earl M. Morrison, William J. Joyce and Fay O. Morrison and built in 1924. There are two covered areas. Several automobiles are parked in the rear of the station. Two gasoline pumps are available at the front of the service station. The station was located next to the C.H. McNeil Candy Shop at 6643 South Tacoma Way.

Tacoma Auto Sales Company, Pontiac and Cadillac dealers, exterior. Showroom windows painted over with cartoon of fence and various characters "peeking", trying to glimse the 1946 Pontiacs, which sign on the door says will be on display Wed, Nov 14th. According to the Tacoma Times prices permitted on new automobiles were to be announced by the OPA by November 7, 1945, for the new 1946 models. Automobiles were not manufactured during the war so these models were greatly anticipated. (T.Times, 11/2/1945, p.15) TPL-9277
