The 54-piece band and their director from John S. Baker Junior High School (now Middle School) posed in the shade of the campus' fir trees in March of 1969. The girls were wearing pleated skirts; the boys sported dark ties. All of the musicians were wearing uniform vests with logos. School library. The library at Perry G. Keithley Junior High (now Middle School) is empty of students on September 20, 1962. The spacious library has plenty of room for books with several shelves half-empty. Study tables are spaced widely apart with rows of fluorescent lighting above to provide good lighting for readers. A freestanding globe could be used by students for homework assignments. Keithley Junior High is part of the Franklin Pierce School District. The school was dedicated on March 6, 1962. Lincoln High School drill team Marcetta-Ki for the 1960 yearbook "Lincolnian." Marcetta Ki was Lincoln's marching team. They performed at half times during home games and marched in 3 parades in 1960, one of which was Tacoma's Daffodil Parade. Girls with good posture, average grades, a nice personality and good figure were chosen to be members of the club. ( "1960 Lincolnian")

Students at Jason Lee Junior High School, 602 No. Sprague Ave., study in their school's new science lab on April 18, 1968. Spacious work tables with built-in sinks, bright lighting, wood flooring, and lots of storage capacity were part of the science facility. A PE/industrial arts addition was planned for the near future; this was part of a $264,000 remodeling project. This photograph was used in a News Tribune ad dated May 13, 1968, asking for school bond passage. If the bond passed, similar labs would be built at Stewart, Gray and Mason Junior Highs for $90,000. The first graduation of Bellarmine scholars occurred in June of 1929. The nineteen young graduates posed with church dignitaries under the banner "Ad Omnia Paratus, " ( "Prepared for All Things" ) in the St. Leo's school auditorium. Right Rev. Edward J. O'Dea, Bishop of Seattle, presided over the exercises. Others in attendance on stage included Tacoma Mayor James Newbegin and principal speaker, Camille Pessemier. The Catholic high school for boys, then called Bellarmine College, was founded in 1928 with an enrollment of 150. A Red Cross worker is pictured above flanked by eight women "soldiers" in tall hats, all with index fingers pointing upward. They were participating in the opera Mam'zelle Taps which was performed on stage at Stadium High School March 5-7, 1925, by members of the school's boys' and girls' glee clubs. It was the 13th annual musical production. Although the opera was set during wartime, it was played on a humorous note with the required happy ending. (1925 Tahoma, p. 66-67-articles)

Stadium Bowl's stands are packed with students and adults in this circa 1920 photograph. Lines of young boys and girls occupy the field while the school band plays on the outdoor stage. This is believed to be "Stadium Day," held each year in May. The "Castle," the massive turreted brick structure otherwise known as Stadium High School, overlooks the Bowl. G55.1-093

Lincoln High School students assembled around the school's statue of Abraham Lincoln during this Memorial Day (May 29) 1924 celebration honoring veterans as well as the martyred President after whom the school has been named. The outdoor ceremony replaced the indoor ones of previous years and was sponsored by school service organizations, Knights of Lincoln and the Takolah Club. During the 1924 Memorial Day ceremony at Lincoln High School, Eunice Huseby, left, president of the Takolah Club, and Florence Anderson, right, president-elect, placed a floral wreath at the foot of the school's statue of Abraham Lincoln. The girls, dressed in white skirts and blouses, stood on a makeshift platform. The students at Lincoln had planned a ceremony that honored the school's namesake as well as veterans. 4th of July celebration at Stadium Bowl. 35,000 jammed into Stadium Bowl in 1924 to celebrate Independence Day with pageants and fireworks. Mounted horsemen from Troop F, 11th U.S. Calvary, bands, sailors and school children stood in the center of the vast bowl with the imposing Stadium High School to the left. On Memorial Day in 1941 a ceremony was held at Stadium High School to pay tribune to the eleven Stadium High alumni who lost their lives in World War I. Twelve wreaths were lain, one each at the base of the eleven trees that lined the parking strip in front of the school, and one at the memorial plaque that lists the names of the soldiers. For the 1941 "Klahowya," Clover Park High School yearbook. Led by advisor James Garrard and Club president Jerry Hallmeyer, the Radio Club was trained in the International Morse Code and learned the theory of radio receiving and transmitting. They constructed several crystal receiving sets, a simple spark coil and dismantled two old radios for their parts. Pictured working on various radios are, top row: Doyle Watt, Dick Taylor, Dave Heignbert, Tom Williams, Mr. Garrard, Lionel Reid, William Legacy, Jerry Hallmeyer, Ross Spalding.
