Pacific Lutheran College's library was designed in 1936, building began in 1937 and the building was dedicated in 1939. This building was designed by Emanuel J. Bresemann, a local Tacoma architect. Pacific Lutheran was planning to remodel the library during 1948, view of PLC students outside of the library, possibly between their classes or on their way to study (Saga, 1948).

Pacific Lutheran College has an important role in the education system of the Pacific Northwest. The growing College has gained national acclaim for its outstanding methods of instruction. Pacific Lutheran College offered their students an "Education for Life" and "Build for Character". They had programs in Liberal Arts, Teacher Training, Music, Parish Work, Pre-Medical, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Theology and Pre-Law. Pacific Lutheran College had brought a lot of benefits to the Parkland community. Pacific Lutheran College was a member of the American Association of Colleges, and was an accredited educational facility. Dr. Eastvold was PLC's President, in addition to the new gymnasium Pacific Lutheran College had also built a new $200,000 Science Hall in 1947. Pacific Lutheran College dedicated their new gymnasium in 1947. This gymnasium was built after their original gymnasium was destroyed in a fire. The Central Board was a group of students vested with the responsibility of appointing committee heads, supervising the control of ASCPS finances, choosing publication heads and planning special campus events. The board was comprised of representatives of each class, editors of the Trail and Tamanawas, department managers of forensics, men's and women's intramural, music and dramatics, elected officers of ASCPS, and three faculty advisors. College of Puget Sound. Three male college students, members of the Intercollegiate Knight National Service Fraternity, are cleaning an attic. One of them is dismanteling what looks like a bed frame, and the other two are mopping the floor. Old furniture, roll-up blinds and other items are still piled up around them. The walls are finished in wooden planks. This group participated in the year-round activities of the college and undertook two major spring projects: remodeling the out-dated bulletin boards at Jones Hall and the procurement of a chapter room. Several interiors at CPS, Murtough Supply, Frank Murtough. Murtough Supply Company, owned by Frank J. Murtough, handled cleaning supplies and equipment and were distributors of Franklin's R.G. Products, Clarke & Finnell Floor Machines and Multi-Clean Vacuums. They were located at 706 Pacific Avenue. This interior view features an open hallway with seating, an elaborately carved side table, a portrait of a man wearing academic robes, and a grandfather clock. Draperies are closed over the windows. Banisters for the stairways are also shown.

Hawthorne School 6A class photographed in June of 1937. The ten students smile into the sunshine on the steps of their school, built in 1913 from a design by Heath and Gove. The school was razed in 1981.

On May 7, 1937, Mrs. Avis Christian posed with her 30 piece harmonica band at Oakland School, 3319 So. Adams St. The band, composed of Oakland students, performed the folk songs of Stephen Foster; strains such as "Old Folks at Home" and "Beautiful Dreamer."
