Judy Slaney puts a Mazda decal on the tail gate of a Mazda 4x4 pick-up truck at the Mazda import facility at the Port of Tacoma. Congress is taking a critical look at Foreign Trade Zones to see if they help or hinder the U.S. economy. Port of Tacoma has the second largest Free Trade Zone in the country, and the port officials consider it an important economic development too. Mazda adds accessories and detailing to cars imported from Japan and Korea.

Senior citizens from all over the county danced to the tunes of Pep Perry's Combo, a quartet playing music from the 40's and 50's, at Green River Community College. The college's Special Events Program sponsored the Valentine's dance which was free. Seniors enjoyed refreshments and each got a complimentary photo taken with their sweetheart.
(The program has been going for about 4 years)

--Nuclear Project no. 2--
The image of the No. 2 nuclear project of the Washington Public Power Supply System at Hanford is reflected on the surface of an adjoining spray pond, one of two comprising a back-up safety cooling system. Each pond contains 7 1/2-million gallons of water. Pillars on the circular structure in the foreground hold the nozzles to spray water into the air which would be cooled by evaporation as it falls back into the pond.

--Freeway Model Displayed--
A 40-foot model of the Tacoma Freeway as it will appear when completed in several years is being displayed this month on the second floor of the county-City Building. Picture shows freeway running east to and over the Puyallup River. G. M. Schuster, city public works director, front right, points to state approach to city's projected Yakima Avenue Bridge. Under his arm are Delin Avenue and Tacoma Avenue undercrossings. Behind Schuster are Harold A. Hagestad, left, coordinating engineer between Tacoma and state, and Myron Calkins, city engineer. They are pointing to the complex of crossings and approaches that will be the Pacific Avenue Interchange, designed to relieve Freeway of Cross-town traffic congestion.
